Washington AP Chief negotiator J E Wolfe says five railroad unions launched separate talks with two railroads, threatening a strike on Wednesday. Wolfe released a letter to Secretary of Labor Wirtz asking action to prevent private disputes from becoming a public disaster. Labor Department observer noted no immediate comment from Wirtz.
Saigon reports six American airmen killed in Viet Nam weekend actions. A helicopter and an L19 spotter plane were downed 100 miles south and northeast of Saigon. Names include Capt. Thomas J. Bergin, 1st Lt. Richard Jaeck, 1st Lt. Roger E. Gauvin, 1st Lt. Kenneth A. Shannon, Spec. 5 Carleton W. Upton, and Pfc. Frank J. Holguin. The total American deaths in Viet Nam reached 124 since December 1961.
