Colombian cocaine exports allegedly reached 1.5 billion dollars last year, surpassing coffee as a major export and accounting for about 70 percent of illicit U.S. cocaine supply, with Peru and Bolivia supplying most of the remainder.

The Scurry County Producers Association board will elect officers at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Chamber of Commerce Board of County Development Building. New directors were elected last week at the annual meeting. The association runs boll weevil control in the county.
Western Texas College Dinner Theatre reports all performances of Barefoot in the Park sold out with three more shows. Joanne Brock and Glenn Polk lead a strong cast in Neil Simon comedy, supported by Dr. Sue Coffman and Rex Hopkins.

Lottie Morton, longtime Arab Route mail carrier in Scurry County, recently retired after starting the route in 1932, briefly leaving, then returning in 1945. She delivered to 74 boxes over 34 miles of dirt and paved roads six days a week, recalling weather, wildlife, and daily discoveries in rural Texas.
