James Earl Ray Pleads Guilty To King Killing
James Earl Ray pleaded guilty to murdering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and agreed to a 99 year sentence in the Tennessee State Penitentiary. He rejected his lawyer’s no conspiracy theory but said he agreed to plead to save the life of the victim. Five witnesses testified King was slain at the Lorraine Motel on April 4, 1968, before a jury set the sentence.

Snyder High School sent 47 schools to the 13th Annual West Texas Speech Tournament at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. Terry McNair was the top speaker, with Mike Levens second. Snyder earned top eight finishes, the only Class AAA squad to do so, and swept multiple event wins. Regional UIL and state invites follow with district contests in March and May in Austin.

Hazardous Driving In NW Texas Snow Threatens Travel
