Workers vote to return as British post offices reopen
Britain’s postal workers end a 47 day walkout with more than 90,000 of 205,000 union members returning to work. About 1,000 of 1,700 main offices did not reopen to train staff in the new decimal system and to clear a backlog of 11 million letters plus 60 million abroad. Indictments Fold in Dallas Deputy Killings
A Dallas grand jury indicted Rene Adolfo Guzman and Leonardo Ramos Lopez for the February 15 deputy killings in an execution style shooting along the Trinity River. Thomas Rodriguez was indicted for assault to murder a police officer, with narcotics allegations not acted on. Training Course Set For Guards
The federal government will enroll all building guards in an intensive training program to prevent bombings and vandalism. The first class from the Federal Protective Service Training Academy in Washington graduated thirty seven guards including Capitol Police with a four week course in marksmanship fire prevention explosives handling and arrest procedures. Jerry Martin of Snyder High School was named outstanding service station trainee at the Twenty-fifth Annual State Conference of Distributive Education Clubs of America in Fort Worth. He works at Rip Griffin's Truck Stop and won two $50 savings bonds for himself and his teacher Claude Donaldson. Along with three other DE students, he attended the three day conference as Texas leads the nation with the largest DE program.
