A seven month pregnant Holstein cow was found mutilated in an East Fort Worth pasture. Owner Troy McCarley reported the scene with no sign of blood or fence breaches and two shotgun shell casings nearby. He suspects tranquilization before parts were removed and notes no other livestock were harmed.

The U S Supreme Court refused to hear arguments from condemned Texas convict Ernest Benjamin Smith Jr who argues the death penalty cannot be applied to non killers. Three justices dissented as the court declined the appeal.
