The advance 1970 Scurry County census shows population decline in the sixties with over 70 percent urban and a white majority of 95.3 percent. It lists 667 Negroes and 76 of other races, with 8 456 in the 18 to 64 bracket and a 4 364 5 to 17 age group. The 8 600 median owner occupied house value remains unchanged.
