John L. Webb Area Pioneer Dies at 73
John L. Webb, 73, longtime stock farmer and Snyder resident, died this morning at Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the first white male child born in Scurry County and lifelong local figure in baseball as a player and coach. He and wife Dec 9 1907 marriage, celebrated 50th anniversary last year. Survived by widow, one daughter Loy D. Logan, brother R. W. Webb, half sister Mrs. Ivan Gatlin, half brother Walter Wasson. another daughter Mrs. Jack DeWald predeceased in a car wreck. Funeral plans pending at Bell Funeral Home.

Fleeing convict frees hostages near Flat Rock Alabama
