Plan Studied For Ending Long Strike
Washington March 3 government mediators submitted a formal package proposal to Westinghouse Electric Co and the International Union of Electrical Workers to end a 139 day strike. The FMCS panel chaired by Joseph F. Finnegan prepared the plan after two weeks of work. Copies were sent to both sides for replies due Monday. The strike, the nation’s longest major walkout in two decades, began last October.
