Deep Creek Flood Control Feasibility Review Tonight

A 7:30 p.m. meeting in Scurry County Court will hear the Deep Creek flood control feasibility study. An examination team from the Soil Conservation Service Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Bureau of Sports Fisheries and Wildlife has studied Deep Creek and its tributaries since Monday, with findings due at the meeting. The effort revives a flood control application first filed May 20, 1957 and revived after the August 13, 1972 flood. If feasible, the project would involve building several dams on the upper Deep Creek watershed to hold runoff and prevent downstream flooding.
