Hijacking in Doha ends with hijacker subdued by royal guard

A Lebanese man, 26, seized a Gulf Air plane with 68 aboard in Doha. He demanded 500000 riyals but was overpowered after landing. All passengers and crew were said to be safe. The hijacker hailed from Bint Jbail near the Israeli border.

United Way Board Sets 1977 78 Budget And Campaign

Scurry County United Way directors approved a 1977 78 budget of 48500 matching this year as the campaign goal. Fall campaign dates will be fixed at the Aug 17 board meeting with Darwin Melton and Jean Bullard as co chairs. Allocations target divisions include Advance Gifts 17000 Branch House 1540 Commercial 7600 Education 4070 Oil and Industries 8800 Professional 1650 Public Employer 1470 Rural 1575 Utilities 4095 and Royalty Owners 706. Numerous agencies receive United Way support and a booth will be sponsored at the Scurry County Fair.

In Vienna, OPEC says a majority of members have dropped plans for a 5 percent crude oil price increase slated for July 1. The cartel split since December over pricing, with Saudi Arabia and UAE favoring a year-long 5 percent rise. prior January raised prices to $12.70 per barrel. Ali M.
