Floor Lamp Blamed For Residence Fire
Fire damaged the residence of Mr and Mrs Tom Boren at 1806 Thirty seventh Street around 9 PM. Fire marshal Ivan Gatlin said an electric floor lamp caused a draped window frame and table damage. This fire was the fifth call by city equipment this month and all five fires were minor.

Will Clay, 49, owner of Clay Bros. Hotel and Coffee Shop in Snyder, was found dead in bed at his wife Helen Clay’s home. Justice of the Peace W. C. Davidson ordered an autopsy to confirm cause of death. Clay was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Born July 9, 1905 in Waskom, he had long operated the hotel on South Avenue M. Arrangements are pending at Bell Funeral Home.

Police Report Hot Lead Found In Search For Triple Slayer
Texas Rangers said a June 18 Dallas arrest of an airman gave a hot lead in the hunt for a slayer. Identifications and witness photos were checked in Dickinson as authorities pursued a man seen with Ruby C. McPherson before three family members were found shot to death. A reward totaled 1110 dollars, with 1000 from the American Oil Well Drilling Contractors.
