The Junior Chamber of Commerce announces mowing orders closed after the deadline. Jaycees collected weed mowing requests for Cleanup Week, receiving at least 99 orders by cutoff, with more still arriving this morning.
Adela Gidley 26, once billed as nature girl in wrestling, testified in Dallas that she met Harry Washburn 41 in Houston in 1951. The Houston contractor is on trial for allegedly rigging an auto bomb that killed Mrs Helen Harris Weaver in San Angelo two and a half years ago.
Fresno report notes Sallie Salt age 3 and Johnnie Pepper age 7 admitted the same day with eye trouble in the same room and operated on by the same doctor.
The Supreme Court, in a 6-3 decision, upheld the federal obscenity statute barring mailing indecent literature. Justice Brennan wrote for the majority, rejecting arguments that the statute violates First Amendment protections. The case long centered on Samuel Roth, who was convicted for mailing obscene publications and fined.

Snyder delegates at the Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars encampment in San Angelo voted to censure government officials over the Girard case. Milton M. Mapes, post commander, said the group criticized Eisenhower Dulles and the army for Girard an American soldier held in Japan. The question of trial in a U S court martial or transfer to Japan is before the supreme court. Delegates from Snyder included Mapes Frank D Stephenson Earl Chapman Albert Beavers and Earl Davis.
Oklahoma forecasts call for additional thunderstorms today and tomorrow after weekend downpours causing flash flooding. Eastern Oklahoma may see minor flooding while the Cimarron, Arkansas, and Verdigris rivers rise. Rain totals reached 3.17 inches in Fargo and 2.61 in Ponca City, worsening wheat losses across Woodward, Ellis, Alfalfa, Major, Grant and Garfield counties.
