Thousands of remedial English students at San Antonio College use an IBM computer guided lab to correct errors and tailor pace. Lab director Vivian Rudisill notes improved writing, with about 75 percent earning C or better in freshman composition after computer assisted instruction.

In early returns from Italy’s parliamentary elections the ruling Christian Democrats led the senate count with 41 percent from 676 of 73 179 polling places. The Communists trailed with about 33 percent, as voters aged 18 to 25 were to decide the deputy chamber results.
