Peiping radio said five former UN soldiers who stayed in Red China after Korea were permitted to depart. Only two had asked to go home, including two of three Americans. one American chose Japan, one Belgian chose the United States, and one Belgian chose Laos. The five named were Cpl. Lewis W. Griggs of Jacksonville Texas and Cpl. Otho G. Bell of Olympia Washington.

SHAMROCK Tex June 18 B L H Tucker Jr 13 remained semi conscious after a severe beating by five unidentified youths. Doctors report a broken nose seven lost teeth and head bruises. Tucker left a movie theater with Lee Harrison 14 and Richard Payne 15 when a car stopped and the five youths assaulted him before being driven away to a town edge.

One man, James Edward Yarborough, 52, of Peacock, was slightly injured in a two vehicle crash at the Clairemont Road intersection with a farm to market road. Dan Gibson Jr. drove the other car and sustained no injuries. Yarborough was hospitalized at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in a Bell ambulance. Officers said Yarborough’s car eastbound on the farm road collided with Gibson’s car as it ran the Clairemont Road, shoving Yarborough’s vehicle about 40 feet with extensive damage to both cars.
