President Eisenhower Sees Jet Crash Rescue On Saratoga
A jet from Cecil Field crashed into the Atlantic near Jacksonville as President Eisenhower watched from the Saratoga. Cmdr J E Tefft, CO of Fighter Squadron 31, was rescued by helicopter and aboard Valley Forge in good condition. The second pilot’s fate remained unknown as search efforts continued along the coast.

Felimon Nunez 17 drowned in a tank on the Wright Huddleston farm 17 miles southwest of Snyder while working on a pipeline project. Rescue crews recovered the body around 6 p.m. and the funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Big Spring with arrangements by Bolger Funeral Home. He is survived by his parents, a sister in Big Spring, and a brother of Big Spring.
