Corpus woman Grace Plyler dies in fatal auto crash
Mrs Grace Plyler 63 of Corpus Christi was killed Friday when she fell asleep at the wheel causing her car to overturn six times on a local road. The AP report notes authorities are investigating the accident scene.

Trapped Teens Rescued After Cliff Narrow Escape
Two Abilene high school juniors, John Buddy Myers and Lowery Thompson, were rescued from a half mile high ledge in the Guadalupe Mountains after a fall during a shortcut from a ranch party. Weather hampered helicopters as rescuers reached them on foot and prepared a long, hard operation. Thompson suffered a broken leg, and both boys clung to a narrow ledge with minutes to spare.

Stricklin Rites To Be In Brownfield
Funeral services for Andrew Jackson Stricklin will be held Sunday at 2 30 pm at Crescent Hill Church of Christ in Brownfield. Stricklin, a renowned West Texas journalist, died Friday at Cogdell Memorial Hospital Snyder after illness. He began in journalism as a printer with the Terry County Herald, bought the paper in 1909, and later helped form the Brownfield News after the Herald merged with it. He is survived by his wife, daughter Mrs Herman Trigg, a son A J Stricklin Jr, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Born August 23 1880 in Hardeman County Tennessee, he moved to Texas in 1903 and became a leading civic figure and editor in West Texas.
