While McGovern hides at a South Dakota cabin, 30 telegrams arrive urging either dropping or keeping Eagleton as running mate after his disclosure of psychiatric treatment. Eagleton refuses to release medical records, says he erred in not informing McGovern. Political adviser calls the next days tense for the campaign.

The forecast covers Northwest Southwest Texas and North Central Northeast Texas through Thursday. Highs range from the upper 80s to mid 100s with lows from mid 50s to low 70s. Coastal areas see southerly winds 6 to 12 knots and isolated afternoon thundershowers.
President Nixon urged Congress to enact a 250 billion dollar spending ceiling for fiscal 1973 and warned he would veto measures he views as excessive. He argued the plan would avoid higher taxes and preserve purchasing power, noting 1972 federal outlays reached about 231.6 billion dollars.

He and his wife have four children.
Democratic vice presidential candidate Thomas Eagleton refused to release his hospital treatment records for nervous exhaustion while saying he may allow doctors to discuss past care. He admitted regret for not informing George McGovern earlier and defended his qualifications to run, noting records are private but leaving open discussion with physicians. He heads to Honolulu for a union address.
Reverend John Bollinger and his family, longtime Snyder residents, returned from Guyana where he led a Georgetown church of about 800. He discussed Guyana’s socialist economy, its independence in 1970, and the challenge of few pastors for many congregations, noting his preference for U.S. capitalism and the need to develop native ministers.
Hillsboro Texas with San Antonio to Hillsboro officers recount a bungled narcotics operation. A twin engined Lockheed Lodestar carried an estimated 2 500 pounds of marijuana. A staged takeover claim by a supposed U S Customs Agent Burk added confusion. The aircraft landed at Cameron and then Hillsboro where suspects fled in a blue Camaro toward Dallas. McGregor officers reported a marijuana laden airstrip and quick evidence removal. Customs officials denied any agent aboard or involvement by the agency. Investigating agents worked across Houston and San Antonio bases.
