Amos Eugene Swart escaped with scratches after a tire blowout caused a pickup and trailer overturn. William L. McCumpfey, 27, suffered multiple injuries from a Studebaker overturn near Ira. Samuel J. Ayer sustained a broken shoulder blade in another 84 highway crash. Gloria Emery, 23, was uninjured in a later rollover four miles southeast of Snyder.

In Fort Scott Kansas the western half of the Frisco Railroad roundhouse burned early today. Two locomotives and several cars were damaged or destroyed. Firefighters fought the blaze through the morning, with no word yet on the cause or extent of the loss.

New Snyder Water Tower Under Construction
Workers began building the legs of a 100000 gallon water storage tower at the southwest corner to serve Snyder. Completion is expected in about six weeks with clear weather. The tower will improve pressure during peak hours and aid fire insurance ratings. Snyder now has four elevated towers of this size plus one in east Snyder and extensive ground storage totaling 1880000 gallons.
