Indictment Awaited in Williams Slaying Case

Scurry County officers awaited a Mitchell County Grand Jury indictment accusing Aubrey Gene Williams of slaying Girlie Dee Williams. Williams is free on a $15,000 bond after arraignment on a complaint over his alleged stabbing death of his former wife. her body was found July 12 near Buford Gun north of Colorado City.

State and area agricultural officials will visit Snyder on Wednesday July 26 for a two year review of crop insect control programs. Scurry County Producers Association hosts with Texas A&M Extension Service and Texas Department of Agriculture officials. Opening Rodeo Set For Scurry County Coliseum Tonight

Cowboys and cowgirls converge on Snyder for the 43nd annual Scurry County Rodeo opening at 8 p.m. in the Scurry County Coliseum. Downtown parade at 5 p.m. will feature decorated floats and sheriff s posses with prizes to four floats. Stockholders roping event yielded belts and saddles for winners. The rodeo runs daily through Saturday with calf roping bull riding saddle bronc barrel racing team roping junior goats and wild cow milking. Announcer Jim Miller of Rapid City and Hoyle Nix with West Texas Cowboys return for the show and dances afterward.

Personal incomes rise 0.9 percent in June USA

The Commerce Department reports Americans’ personal income up 0.9 percent in June, larger than May but below April and March gains. Total June income nears $1.696 trillion, averaging $7,796 per person annually. Wages and salaries rose at an estimated annual rate of $7.3 billion in June.
