In Salisburg, Rhodesia, black nationalist guerrillas killed 21 Black villagers in a village 100 miles north. Some victims were burned. One survivor, hospitalized in critical condition, described the Friday night attack. It marked the third civilian mass killing blamed on guerrillas in three weeks.
U S aims to reduce Anatoly Shcharansky 13 year term and may swap him and Alexander Ginzburg for two Soviet spies arrested in New Jersey. ABC News cites Carter acceptance of a Soviet swap proposal as a possibility. In Louisville, firefighters returned to work then to the picket lines after rejecting a city settlement offer.

The rodeo totals nearly 28000 dollars in prizes and includes calf roping bull riding bareback bronc saddle bronc barrel racing goat sacking and a wild cow milking contest. Hoyle Nix and his West Texas Cowboys provide music and dance after each show in the adjacent livestock building. Announcer Jim Miller of Rapid City will again call the events. Tickets cost 3 or 4 dollars at the coliseum.
