Oklahoma Steam Threshing Bee Set For Enid in July
The 19th annual Oklahoma Steam Threshing Bee will run July 27 to 29 in Enid. Sponsored by the Oklahoma Steam Threshing Association, the event showcases turn of the century steam powered threshing machines, a labor intensive process, and serves as a demonstration rather than a contest. Officials note coal shoveling exceeds a ton per work day to keep engines fired. Nearby tours on LBJ Ranch are offered by NPS and Texas Parks and Wildlife, with free first come tours leaving from LBJ State Park visitor center at Stonewall. The 38th Scurry County Rodeo is set for July 18–21 with a historical theme, and gates open Wednesday through Saturday each evening.
