Marshall faced malicious mischief and Rowell felonious assault with a garbage can.
Directors of the Colorado River Municipal Water District meet Monday at 10 am in Big Spring to review the Robert Lee lake project. The meeting aims to inspect preliminary bond prospectus drafts from Eastman Dillon Union Securities Inc., with a projected 30 million dollar revenue bond. Fort Worth’s S W Freese may report on final plans for the dam across the Colorado River above Robert Lee as about 5,000 of 16,000 acres have been secured for the lake basin and highway relocations and oil-well plans are under negotiation.
Secretary of Defense Robert S McNamara said increased U S operations in Vietnam have prevented a monsoon offensive by the Viet Cong and boosted military gains. He cited a 280000 strong force and 1700 helicopters, with air strikes on North Vietnam oil facilities, and warned success in ending the war remains uncertain. He stressed no aim to destroy North Vietnam or base long term U S presence in South Vietnam.
A burglary suspect knocked out Sgt. Melvin Southall early Saturday but the sergeant recovered and killed him with a shotgun blast after two high speed chases. The 26 year old suspect, unnamed in the report, was seized following a ditch collision and a pistol snatching incident.
The Civil Aeronautics Board approved measures to ease air traffic congestion caused by a strike against Eastern National Trans World United and Northwest airlines. The action allows other carriers to provide restricted service and enables chartering, with negotiations aimed at expanding transport during the emergency.
