The Associated Press reports a second great storm gripping the eastern half of the U.S. with 80 mph winds, blizzard snow, and subzero readings from Minnesota to Maine. Heavy blows disrupted traffic in the Midwest and New York, while 70 car pileups near Bakersfield and four fatalities were noted. widespread cold and wind chill fears persisted from Michigan to Georgia.

A new $12 million damages suit was filed in Dallas alleging fraud and misrepresentation by National Bankers Life Insurance Co. of Dallas and others in connection with the SEC probe into NBL stock. The action names 15 individuals and 13 corporations already named in the SEC case and cites losses by shareholder Richard A. Twedell from Feb 9 1969.
Wholesale prices rose six tenths of one percent in January led by farm prices, the largest monthly gain since 1970. The report, preliminary and seasonally adjusted, shows food prices driving the rise while overall inflation remains modest versus a year earlier.
Requiem high mass for Father Cyril Lange 59 will be at St Elizabeth Church Snyder with a Rosary tonight at 7 30. Lange died at Spahn Hospital Corpus Christi after three weeks of illness and two surgeries. Born 1911 Nazareth Texas he served in Arkansas Missouri and Texas and built the Eola church. He had been pastor at St Marys Windthrop and St Elizabeth Snyder for six years. Bolger Funeral Home to handle burial in Nazareth. Surviving are six sisters two brothers.
