Spy Plane Crashes Near Texas Line in New Mexico
A Lockheed SR71 on a routine test flight crashed near the Texas border in northeast New Mexico. One test pilot died, another was injured. both parachuted from the burning jet. The dead pilot was James T. Zwayer, 30s, of Lancaster California. the injured was Bill Weaver, 37, of Northridge California. The incident prompted tight security as witnesses recalled an explosion before the fall.
