Commuter Bus Delayed By Blizzard In Kansas City Area
The 7:30 am bus from Liberty Missouri arrived at 12:15 pm yesterday four hours late due to a blizzard. On the road only two hours for a 45 minute run it was held for nearly three hours as U.S. 69 was blocked by drifts and stalled cars. The driver and several passengers had to push cars to clear the way. Liberty lies 16 miles northeast of Kansas City.

Midwest Digs Out after Snow Storm
Kansas City and environs dig out from 15 inches of snow after a blizzard that killed 17 across Kansas Missouri Iowa and Illinois. Heart Attack Fatal for LeRoy Hurst at 51
LeRoy Hurst foreman for Amerado Petroleum Corp at Knapp died at 6 p.m. yesterday at his home after a heart attack. A World War II Army veteran, 51, he lived in Snyder area since 1950 and worked for Amerado 22 years. He was born August 15, 1906, in Comanche. Survivors include his widow Thomash and five sisters and two brothers. Services will be at First Baptist Church in Snyder at 10 a.m. tomorrow with burial in Riverside Cemetery at Seymour at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Pallbearers include Amerado employees.

They praised jail staff but urged upgrades including a visitors room, separate juvenile wards, separate wards for white and Negro women, and 24 hour jail presence.
