An 18 year old part time hospital orderly faces murder or attempted murder charges in Sweden for poisoning 24 elderly patients with a carbonic acid and lemon drink. Chief Prosecutor Sten Aunerheim said the suspect admitted killing 20 by making them sip the toxic potion from covered cups. He said the motive was pity for the old people who had pains and nothing to look forward to.
Chicago AP reports heavy snow paralyses the Midwest with many schools closed and transport halted. A second runway reopens at O'Hare International Airport as delays mount and fuel and food supplies worry officials.

District Attorney Pete Greene said the grand jury would hear charges against Larry B. Williams and David Dell Rivera in the Gibson's Discount Center murder of Juan Garcia.
