Worker Burned In New Braunfels Bakery Blast
A pre dawn explosion damaged the New Braunfels bakery city building and burned Alphonso Almadarez 18 after a gas accumulation blast. He was taken to Brooke General Hospital San Antonio with burns over 70 percent of his body. Three other employees escaped injury. The blast blew out the back, collapsed a wall and shattered front windows.

Willie Hugh Kimzey 75 of Hermleigh died Friday in Cogdell Memorial Hospital. He retired after 28 years on a Hermleigh rural route and was a World War I veteran and American Legion member. Funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hermleigh Methodist Church with Masonic graveside rites at Pyron Cemetery. Burial under Bolger Funeral Home direction. Survived by wife Betty Shaw, two daughters, two sons, sister and brother, eight grandchildren.

Cotton yield tops 60,000 bales in Scurry County 1965
Scurry County gins have ginned about 50,000 bales with more cotton arriving daily as observers note a surge in the 1965 crop. By Friday afternoon nine gins reported 45,534 bales ginned and 4,430 bales on gin yards with totals climbing toward 60,000 as weather remains favorable for extending stripping operations. Major gins listed include Snyder Co op 9,323 and Inadale 7,064 among others.
