The State Department of Highways and Public Transportation says Scurry County roads were iced despite 25,800 pounds of salt and 200 cubic yards of sand used by crews for 120 hours. U.S. 84 received priority, and extra coverage could not be done due to limited staff and gear. Estimated extra cost was 11,025 dollars with 6,447 for labor 1,278 for equipment and 3,300 for materials.
