Bids Open Tuesday for Mounds in Coke County Lake Basin
Construction bids for 17 earthen oil well mounds in a new Coke County lake basin will be opened in Big Spring at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Colorado River Municipal Water District plans the mounds to raise oil well levels above the spillway of the lake impounded on the Colorado River near Robert Lee. O H Ivie, the district’s general manager, said plans and specs have been checked by many firms and several contractors visited the site. The board meets Wednesday at 10 a.m. at district headquarters to award the mound contract and set 1968 water rates for member cities, based on past usage plus six cents per thousand gallons. Charles Perry, Odessa, board president, said operational reports and the year’s projection will be reviewed.
