Ten men under 35 from sports government business engineering and education were named outstanding young men of America for 1956 by the U S Junior Chamber of Commerce. They will be honored at a January 19 banquet in Dallas. Religious Service in Bathing Trunks at Epiphany Dunk
In New York a Navy airman and a Marine corporal stripped to bathing trunks in 33 degree weather and dived into the Hudson to recover a garlanded crucifix during the Epiphany ritual of the Greek Orthodox Church. West Texas Music Festival Scheduled for March in Snyder
The third annual West Texas Music Festival is set for March 1-2 in Snyder, Texas, jointly sponsored by Snyder schools and the Chamber of Commerce. About 23 bands and 30 choirs may participate, with 40 bands and choirs and 2,500 students attending last year. Clinicians from Ithica College, Belwin, Eastern New Mexico, Longhorn Band, SMU, and others will assist, and a mass band concert will be held on courthouse square with a choral concert to follow.

False bomb scares hit Houston schools again
Two Houston campuses, San Jacinto High School and St. Thomas Catholic High School, were evacuated after anonymous calls claimed bombs, prompting police and fire crews to search with no explosives found. No Armory Here Yet in Snyder Red Tape Delays 1950 Efforts
Maj. Gen. A D Bruce urged Snyder to donate 10 to 20 acres for a National Guard armory after inspecting Co D 112th Armored Cavalry. The existing shared city county metal building, built circa 1940 for the National Youth Administration, houses the unit since 1947 and is now full. A site in Towle Memorial Park was donated, but full armory plans stalled amid local efforts and committees formed in 1954 to secure federal backing.
