Austin state Auditor C H Cavness disclosed that Senators Rogers Kelley Edinburg and Kilmer Corbin Lubbock were among recipients from U S Trust and Guaranty Co for legal services payments in 1954 and 1955. Corbin received 500 dollars in December 1954, while Kelley’s Edinburg law firm got two checks 2400 dollars each between January and April 1955. Cavness said no other lawmakers appeared to have checks but cash payments totaling 25000 dollars are under review. Belton Man Is Indicted Over Sister Assault and Shooting
Oscar McQueen fifty of Belton was indicted on charges of assault to murder his sister Mayme Miller fifty nine and her daughter Anna Peters. He held Miller captive in a locked bedroom for seven hours and opened fire as police entered after tear gas and battering the door. Miller was wounded twice but not critically. Boy Restored To Life Dies In Hospital
Four year old Neal Demers of Aurora Colorado was electrocuted when a Christmas tree touched live train wires. Doctors revived him after his heart stopped for a time, but he remained unconscious for 40 days before dying at Colorado General Hospital.
