The Associated Press reports clear skies in northwest Texas and cloud elsewhere as the Weather Bureau predicts dry conditions for the rest of 1959. New Year’s Day expected little change. pre-dawn temps ranged from 22 in Dalhart to 53 in Corpus Christi. By 6 am Wednesday no rain had fallen in Texas for over 60 hours with forecasts showing increasing cloudiness and rising temperatures through year end.

Lynch Case Probe Slated in Biloxi
Two federal attorneys assist in presenting evidence to a special federal grand jury convening in Biloxi on January 4 to investigate the Mack Charles Parker case. Seven persons have been subpoenaed. Train Auto Crash Kills Four Near Roscoe South Dakota
A fast moving passenger train struck a car at a crossing in Roscoe North Central South Dakota killing four people. The victims were Elmer Heiser 30 driver and three passengers Edwin Kirschenmann 30 Tommy Sweetland 13 and Wilbert Beck 18. Electric signals were operating as the car crossed at about 1230 am. Beck survived a prior New Year’s Day crash in 1958 that killed nine people. The town of Roscoe has about 500 residents and the car was demolished.

Warehouse Worker Injured In Cotton Bale Accident
Woodrow Kincannon 43 of 2909 Avenue I suffered a serious back hip and leg injury when a bale fell at Poe and Wasson Warehouse Co 2608 Avenue. Kincannon and a coworker were moving cotton preparatory to shipping. He was transported by Bolger ambulance first to Cogdell Memorial Hospital then to Methodist Memorial Hospital in Lubbock.
