Gift to School Library Honors John R. Covey
The John R. Covey family donated a four volume set of The Illustrated Library of the Natural Sciences to Snyder High School Library in memory of the late principal John R. Covey who led the school in 1926 28. Sponsored by the American Museum of Natural History the volumes cover the universe earth and inhabitants and their relations. The librarian says the set enhances the reference collection and honors a former teacher and principal who enjoyed reading and studying history.

City Begins Snyder Retail Holiday Weekend Closure
City firms join a long holiday weekend with most stores closed Monday while offices and businesses began holiday schedules Friday. Many establishments will resume normal operations after the long weekend.

East German trade pacts extended into 1961

Pine Ridge Tanker Crew Returns Home After Sinking Scare
