A weekend burglary at Midwest Iron & Metal Co. in Hutchinson Kansas resulted in the loss of 24 Christmas bonus checks made out for company employees. The incident prompted police to investigate and recover potential leads.
Billy Wayne Sewell 22 an escapee from Brownwood jail was arrested about an hour after allegedly robbing Travel Lodge Motel night operator James Arrington of 53 dollars at gunpoint. Sewell fled in a stolen 1969 Datsun and was captured six miles north of Big Spring by Texas Highway Patrolman R D Bates. He faces armed robbery charges and a $15 000 bond plus a separate $25 000 bond on a Brownwood escape charge. money was recovered.
