Nine Die in Truck Bus Crash Near Tucson
A Greyhound bus traveling east collided with a cattle truck on the wrong side of the road about eight miles east of Tucson. Nine people were killed including the bus and truck drivers and a relief crew. thirty two aboard the bus were injured, five critically. Walter W Williams the last Civil War veteran lay in state in Houston in a gray and gold uniform. Flags flew at half staff by executive order. President Eisenhower praised the nation’s unity and honored Williams who died after pneumonia complications at age 117. One Hospitalized After Accident Near Dunn
Minnie Davis of 2600 Avenue Y was injured when the car failed to turn on Farm Road 1608 three miles west of Dunn. Davis and Mrs John Wesley Blyth of 2007 Avenue K were transported to Cogdell Memorial Hospital by Bell Ambulance, where Davis was admitted for treatment.
