Cape Canaveral AP Titan ICBM debut failed at ignition as first stage propulsion auto shut off. Officials called Titan more sophisticated than Atlas and capable of longer range, with potential to match or surpass Soviet missiles. No serious damage reported.

The United States Britain and France will send notes to Moscow within 10 days demanding Khrushchev drop his six month Berlin ultimatum as a condition for talks on German reunification. Mikoyan plans a January visit to discuss trade loans and expanded Soviet US commerce and may raise other topics with officials and Democratic leaders.
Soviet First Deputy Premier Anastas Mikoyan plans a US trip next month to discuss Berlin and other East West issues with President Eisenhower and Secretary of State Dulles. The visit aims to ease fears of war while Soviet officials push to end four power occupation of Berlin.

Paris AP reports that 81 528 members of the French Electoral College vote Sunday to name Charles de Gaulle president of the new Fifth Republic. The wartime hero gains a seven year mandate to govern and address Algeria and other African issues after the collapse of the Fourth Republic. De Gaulle’s rise follows his Sept 28 approval of a new constitution and aims to stabilize government and rebuild national strength.
The report lists multiple regions in Texas with temperature notes and sky conditions. North Central Texas expects 70 high and 31 low Friday with a 7 30 am reading Saturday at 31. West Texas shows fair skies and warmer trend while Panhandle and South Plains rise Monday. South Central Texas anticipates partly cloudy with scattered showers in extreme south early Sunday and warmer interior north Monday.
A weak cold front triggered showers in South Texas causing one death when a car skid broadside into another north of Alvin. Mrs. George Smith, 39, of Pasadena, was killed. The region logged scattered rainfall totals from 0.01 to 2.62 inches with temperatures ranging from 51 to 76 degrees.
The Air Force expects its B70 chemical fuel bomber to fly three to five years before an atomic powered bomber of similar capability. The B70 could begin replacing current long range bombers in two to three years, while a nuclear variant may be safer and needs full combat usefulness.

Alejandro Garcia, 18, was injured when his automobile lost control at a dip near a street intersection in Big Spring at 8 30 p m Saturday. His car went into a yard struck a parked vehicle, pushing it into a third car. Garcia was taken to a local hospital with believed serious injuries.
