Kennedy Returns to Washington After Latin America Trip

India claims complete victory in coastal invasion

Nominating Panel Named By C C Board

A Chamber of Commerce meeting named a slate nominating committee for 1962 including Mark McLaughlin Charles Hartman Herbert Feather James Rosser and Claude McCormick. A separate committee led by Gene L. Dulaney with Doug McGlain and Mel Gilbert was formed to plan the opening of the new Post Office building. United Fund Nears Goal in Scurry County Drive

The Scurry County United Fund Campaign's reported totals reach 29,408.08 dollars, about 78 percent of the 38,000 dollar target. General chairman H. Williamson announced another report meeting at 10 a.m. Friday at Village Restaurant and urged completing outstanding pledge cards. The Badger Robinson led county division shows 1,859 dollars or 97.6 percent of its 1,900 quota, while Willard Glad son and Odstreil Bros. Drilling Co. earned a plaque for qualification.

Burglary Ring Cleared in Snyder Police Report

Snyder Police Chief Chester Simons reports a string of burglaries cleared after a Latin American youth was arrested near the R R Way Fruit Market. He implicated two other juveniles who confessed to suitcase thefts, cigarette machine robberies, and the theft of clothing, dishes, a radio, and newspaper racks with $30 in change and a 22 pistol taken. Chief Simons warns shoppers to lock autos during the holiday period.

Goodfellows drive nears peak in Scurry County aid

Snyder's annual Goodfellows drive peaks this weekend with food clothing and toys for needy families in Scurry County. About 210 applications have been filed at the west square registration center. cutoff is 5 p.m. tomorrow. The drive aims to aid well over 1 000 residents this year with contributions totaling 1741.32 to date including several named donors.

Victims of Circus Fire Buried in Niterói

Niterói Brazil church bells tolled as a large number of Sunday circus fire victims were buried. Gov. Carlos Peçanha warned the death toll could reach 500 and said many hospital patients are fatally burned. He reported about 60 deaths from burns Monday night and noted relief supplies arriving from the United States Britain and elsewhere.
