Percentage Plan Okayed by Texas Railroad Commission

The Texas Railroad Commission replaces the 30 year old calendar day method with a percentage based production formula starting January. The new plan adds 11,055 barrels daily, 26 percent of potential output, boosting January allowables to 2,711,478 barrels. Commission chair W J Moray said the percentage basis allows fractional day allowables without major change in policy. The move follows recommendations from industry groups amid calls for more flexible production to avoid drastic shifts from single day changes. Several major firms proposed seven to nine day patterns, while others urged retention of eight day production.
