A riot at the El Paso County Jail injured multiple inmates as officers intervened. About 11 prisoners were treated at R. E. Thomason Hospital four more were later hospitalized, with three in guarded condition. Some inmates were sent to Fort Bliss for care. The riot began in the maximum security eighth floor during a hunger strike. The alleged leader, awaiting transfer to Huntsville, was moved to the penitentiary during the night.
