President elect Carter will work from Plains Georgia this weekend as he continues telephone interviews with prospective Cabinet appointees. He returned Friday night from Atlanta and Washington after four days of talks and said he would likely meet again in Atlanta Monday.
Southwest Airlines asked the Civil Aeronautics Board to permit a low cost high frequency service from Chicago Midway to 13 major cities. It plans a subsidiary to operate the routes to avoid CAB jurisdiction. The filing came late Friday and the carrier says the exemption from federal rules underpins its strategy.
In a Texas Bar Journal item reprinted by Dr. Ben Brock the 132nd District Court trial J C Barnes et al of Midland vs Standard Oil of Texas and Chevron saw plaintiffs allege a forged affidavit by the widow of the landless lessor. Ralph Shank’s plea invoked Genesis 27 with a lightning strike at the courthouse. the jury returned 23 minutes after final arguments, ruling in favor of Standard of Texas now Chevron.
Scurry County Commissioners and the County Board of Development met in a special session to improve communication and plan joint meetings.
