Truck Driver Hurt Slightly In Train Crash
Joe Holcomb 39 owner of Holcomb Oil Well Service narrowly escaped serious injury when his 1956 International truck tractor collided with Santa Fe freight train No 199 at the Clairemont Road crossing in north Snyder. The crash twisted the truck frame leaving rear wheels on pavement. Engineer W D Thompson slowed the train after the impact.

Vagrant Cyclist Detained After Dallas to Ira Ride
A 39 year old man rode a bicycle from Dallas to this area and was picked up near Ira by the sheriff after a citizen report of a silent man on a porch. He was taken for a medical checkup by county health officer Dr. R B Pierce. The junior college steering committee aims to submit all petitions by December 20 with about 500 tax paying voters required to sign before presentation to the State Board of Education.

Dave Harlin Burned in Gasoline Explosion at Plant
Dave Harlin of 3003 Thirty-eighth Street suffered second degree burns to both legs when a gasoline can exploded at his drilling company headquarters on the Lubbock highway around 5 30 yesterday afternoon. Fire Chief D A Porter said firefighters arrived quickly and prevented major damage. a few paint brushes burned, Harlin was treated at Cogdell Memorial Hospital and released.

Three Children Die In Fire Near South Shore Ky
In a remote eastern Kentucky area near South Shore three children died in a house fire. Parents Charles and Mrs Sowards evacuated three other children as state police noted the blaze began from an overhead stove and spread too quickly for firefighters to reach the small three room frame house. Novis N. Rodgers of Snyder was chosen as a horse show judge for the 1958 Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show in Fort Worth from January 24 to February 2. He will judge cutting horses and Quarter horse roping and reining classes alongside Robert H. Corbett of Breckenridge and Springer, New Mexico.
