United Fund Elects New Directors for Scurry County
Scurry County United Fund held its final 1964 campaign report meeting Tuesday. Total gifts and pledges reached 25297.35 against a 32500 goal. New three year terms were won by H. H. Williamson Joe Williamson Bill Starnes R. C. Patton John Boren Lyle Deffebach Roy McCloskey Sis Jones Mark McLaughlin and Bob Crowell. H F Clark filled the unexpired term of Bill Brown who moved away. The officers were re-elected Bud England president Bill Seale first vice-president Gene Thompson second vice-president Woody Forrester secretary and Martin Brooks treasurer. Seale will also lead the 1965 drive with a co-chairman to be named. A planning group of H A Johnson Jr John Boren and Bill Butler will select the co-chairman and map next year’s drive. Seale expressed confidence next year’s drive would surpass this year’s with better planning. Although this year’s total was slightly down, no professional fundraiser was used and distributions to agencies are expected to equal or exceed 1963 figures.

The SACROC District of Standard Oil Co of Texas celebrated eight and a quarter years, 696473 man hours, without a lost-time accident. A banquet at Snyder Country Club honored all 56 personnel with remarks by M L Broman message via R H Melton. Speakers emphasized ongoing industrial safety and evolving technology. George Killam and George Patterson attended as guests.

Woman killed in single vehicle crash near Garden City
Emily King, 51, of San Angelo, died when a car driven by Forrest Shea of Goodfellow AFB left the road and struck a concrete abutment twelve miles east of Garden City. Shea was not injured. Emily King was thrown from the vehicle.

Wilson Heads Toward Broadened NATO Nuclear Plan

Mary Frances Vaughan 73 Dies. Rites Set for Sunday
Mary Frances Vaughan 73 died at her home on Thirteenth Street. Funeral services will be at 2 p m Sunday at Eastside Church of Christ, with Don Browning and Richard Williams presiding. Burial in Dunn Cemetery under Bolger Funeral Home. Survivors include husband Jesse T Vaughan eight sons a daughter 28 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren plus a sister and a brother. Born July 31 1891 in Van Zandt County she lived in Scurry County 41 years.
