U S unemployment eased from 8.6 to 8.3 percent in November with 7.7 million unemployed. Civilian labor force fell to 93 million while employment held at 85.3 million as economists attributed the drop to special factors and warned the rate may stay above 7 percent through 1976.
Highlights include 1933 Utah ratifying the 21st Amendment ending Prohibition and the 1492 Columbus voyage to the Santo Domingo island. Other noted events span 1782 Martin Van Buren’s birth, 1848 Polk’s California gold discovery, 1918 Baltic naval blockade, and 1962 US-Soviet space cooperation.
Snyder area reports a 7 am reading of 90 degrees with fair conditions through Saturday. Northwest and Southwest Texas expect highs near 50 to 70 with low night temps in the 20s to 40s, while North Central and Northeast Texas see clouds and isolated storms then fair weather. Ground was broken Thursday December 4 for an orientation building at The Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The $415000 project funded by Miss Christine DeVitt and the Mallet Ranch will be completed in time for the July 2 dedication by Mrs Lyndon B.
