In Culiacan thousands of peasants halted farm work to press land demands, threatening crop losses. Landowners urge Gov. Alfonso Calderon to intervene today to restore normalcy and resume planting wheat, potatoes and vegetables, warned lawyer Gilberto Partida for the landowners.
Residents including Deputy Roylia Akens and Rev. Mike Swann saw a flashing object cross a road near Hugo before it climbed away rapidly. John Jefferson and Stella Jefferson alerted police after viewing the object from their home.
A small plane landed on freshly plowed earth at Wilbarger Airport Vernon thinking it was the main runway. Night arrival confusion left the nose gear damaged the wing housing cracked and the propeller bent. The pilot had earlier landed there during darkness and returned without notice the runway was under rebuild.
