Snyder temperatures show highs from the 40s to 70s and morning lows near 20. Northwest to Southwest Texas expect fair skies with near normal temps Monday to Wednesday. Panhandle northern areas in the 20s to 30s, southern areas 60s. East Texas may see rain Tuesday. central areas mostly dry with 50s to 60s highs.
A Snyder Chamber of Commerce housing committee unveils plans to build an office on Avenue R and Twenty-third Street. Roger B. Mize donated the land, with J. D. Hinton designing plans and LaVerne Lee rendering the exterior. The project will be funded by members with no tax funds involved, aiming to display floor plans in local banks and move County Development offices to new quarters near the central business district.
New Delhi and Islamabad signed a protocol to resume trade next Saturday after four days of talks. Officials say initial exchanges will include Pakistan's cotton and rice for India's manufactured goods iron ore and tea, restoring ties severed since 1965.

United Nations study warns the U N population growth rate in the United States is nearing zero. The 1974 U N Secretariat report notes the birth rate fell from 17.7 per 1000 in 1969 to 15.6 in 1972 while the proportion of women of child bearing age remained steady, signaling a real drop in fertility. It projects an average annual growth rate of 6.9 percent for 1970 75, versus 1.3 percent in the prior decade.
Ebbin Freeman died at 4 a.m. Saturday in Cogdell Memorial Hospital. Funeral at 2 p.m. Monday at Bell Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Grappe officiating. Burial in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Freeman, a retired sawmill operator, lived in Hugo and Snyder, Oklahoma, before moving to Snyder in 1973. Survived by wife, two daughters, seven sons, 32 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
