Martin strips governor of more spending power in ruling

94 Fliers Lost In Offensive In Vietnam War

The AP reports 94 American airmen missing since the March start of the North Vietnam offensive. One Marine lieutenant was rescued after his F4 Phantom was shot down near the Laotian border. A Navy Phantom fell to a surface to air missile near Thanh Hoa. Three advisers wounded as artillery shelling hit Quang Tri. Saigon area saw limited fighting and highway closures despite Viet Cong barriers.

Nixon to greet Tanaka in Hawaii summit

McGovern Says US Should Welcome Thieu in Asylum Plan

Democratic candidate George McGovern proposed offering political asylum in the United States to South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu if he feels endangered after a postwar settlement. He noted Thieu has been “our man in Saigon” and may flee if a Communist government takes over. Western Texas College reports more than 700 students registered on Monday and Tuesday, with evening classes and dormitory openings expanding options. President Dr. Robert L. Storm Gwen shifts offshore threatening California coast
