A Snyder delegation will depart early next week for Oregon to meet with a major industrial prospect that sent three company reps to Snyder in June. Chamber President Dalton Walton says plans and latest developments will be discussed at tonight's general meeting at 7 p.m. in the WTC fine arts auditorium.
Ballerina Ludmilla Vlasova landed in Moscow with her mother Alexandra Dina weeping at her side as U S and Soviet officials clashed over her 732 hour ordeal. She was greeted at the plane steps by her sobbing mother and given bouquets.

Mel Gilbert of Snyder Community Antenna Television notes that Channel 8 often fails during storms. The station, carried by microwave, tends to drop out faster than other microwaved channels. Microwave engineers suspect its spectrum and frequency, but are unsure.
A steering committee studying plans for a new unified tax appraisal system meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Western Texas College board room. Formed Aug. 6, the panel will name two members per taxing entity and has power to appoint an appraisal board. The law requires county agencies to use the system, with county participation optional until changes. Snyder city and county school districts are set to join, while commissioners mull voluntary contract for services.
Temperatures show a high near 92 degrees and a low around 68 today with no precipitation. West Texas remains clear to partly cloudy through Wednesday with warmer conditions this afternoon and highs near 90 to 100 in the south and northwest areas.
