Washington AP The Power Commission refuses to stay its August 5 gas rate ruling for the Permian Basin area 55 Texas counties and 3 in New Mexico potential refunds estimated at 30 to 35 million dollars. Six stay requests from 42 producers including Texas and Skelly Oil Co were denied. The decision sets a permanent system of gas producer regulations with uniform ceiling prices and could guide other rate cases influencing refunds to consumers nationwide. The opinion takes effect Sept 1 with no immediate action required by producers.
