First Bale of 1955 Cotton Ginned Near Snyder
Norman Ford of Polar 25 miles north of Snyder brought in the season's first bale, 570 pounds, from a 30 acre Western Storm Proof field at Pay master Gin on the Lamesa highway. Hydrated by a hail damaged, dry season, Ford estimated a similar or lower yield than 1954. The Chamber of Commerce certified the bale for a $300 premium to be presented Monday by agricultural committee chair Jake Hodges.
