U.S. may use two Thai bases for air attacks in Vietnam

General Strike in Islam Over Fire in Jerusalem
A hand grenade exploded in a Rafah market as Muslims protested a fire that damaged Al Aksa Mosque. Fires Rampage Across Southern California Farmland
More than 1,800 residents fled as multiple fires burned unchecked across Southern California. In northern San Diego County 1,500 were ordered out as 45,000 acres burned, Camp Pendleton north of Fallbrook threatened homes, and Fallbrook area fires neared 12,000 acres. El Cajon saw six houses burned in a 90 acre blaze. Three major San Diego County fires and two in San Bernardino County continued burning amid 118 degree highs, 10 percent humidity, and strong winds. Evacuation centers opened, Red Cross aid offered, and investigators blamed dry conditions with one San Bernardino fire started by three boys playing with matches.

Snyder High School Announces 1969 Annual Distribution
The 1969 Snyder High School Annuals will be distributed Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the SHS auditorium foyer. Staff members from 1969 and 1970 must report at 10 a.m. to help. Students should bring receipts, may authorize others to pick up, and plastic covers sell for 25 cents at the site.

Senators Talk On And On In Tax Debate In Austin
Outnumbered Texas senators debated a 341 million tax package that would place food under the state sales tax. Vote tallies showed at least a 15 to 14 margin in favor amid all night and day speeches begun Friday. Rep. R. H. Cory said negotiators had the votes and the House would receive the compromise bill Monday if the Senate passes it. The House adjourned until 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Snyder Board Approves 1969 70 School Budget With Tax Cut
Snyder School Trustees approved the 1969 70 budget Friday boosting operating funds to 2 966 375 and debt service to 852 042 while shaving three cents off the tax rate. The total budget is 3 882 699 with a 11 cent decline in the rate to 1 32 per 100 value due to debt service savings. The district reported 107 000 in operating fund year end balance up from an estimated 50 000.

Rain Lashes the Region With Sparse Snyder Showers
